Start off with a red and white color scheme and add a highlight
color like green or ice blue.
Our favorite candy cane themed party games and activities are listed which are quick and easy to set up and play.
Candy
Cane Freeze Dance
This game is played like a freeze dance where guests dance while
the music is playing and then when the music stops they have to freeze
in whatever position they were in while dancing. Then the
music is started again. Kids love this funny game!
Make it extra special by placing white and red balloons on the dance
floor so they can dance around and through the balloons.
Before the party begins blow up lots and lots of red and white balloons
so that they completely cover the dance floor. Kids really
like
this game and dancing around kicking through the balloons.
Remove any popped balloons pieces right away.
Candy Cane Swirl
You will need: Large rolls of white and red crepe paper
for each team.
Divide guests into teams of 2 or 3.
Each team gets two rolls of red and
white crepe paper. Decide who in the team will be the
candy cane and who will do the
swirling. On “go” teams wrap
their candy cane with the red and white crepe paper. When
the crepe paper is all around the candy cane with no loose ends and all
of the crepe paper used - the first team to finish wins!
Have enough crepe paper so each guest gets a chance to be the
candy cane.
Candy cane Fishing
You will need: Large candy
canes, stick, 3 feet of string, red solo cup
This is how elves go fishing at the North Pole! Tie the string to one
end of the stick. Tie the other end of the string to the bottom of a
large candy cane so when it is hanging from the string it forms a
hook.
Place several large candy canes in a container that will allow them to stand upright and still have the tops of the candy canes exposed. Players fish for candy canes by trying to hook one of the candy canes in the container on the floor with their candy cane “hook”.
Candy Cane Kisses Game
You will need: A pair of mittens for each team,
peppermint kisses, bowls
Each team will need two bowls.
One that is empty at the other end of the playing field and one
that is filled with peppermint kisses. The first person on each team will put on the mittens, take a
kiss out of their bowl, run to their empty bowl and drop off the kiss,
then run back to their team and give the next person in line the
mittens. The
first team to transfer all of their kisses wins.
Tip: Place the same amount of kisses in each bowl and enough that
each player gets 3 turns. This
is a fun game because the mittens make it hard to pick up the candy.
Can also be played with wrapped peppermint candies.
Christmas Scavenger Hunt
Have the party guests go on a
Christmas scavenger hunt.
Our Christmas scavenger hunt list has lots of fun items to find and is
free to print out.
Gingerbread
House Contest
Let guests build and decorate their own gingerbread
house. There are many gingerbread kits out now that contain 4
small gingerbread houses that you can buy, or simply use squares of
graham crackers and frosting (2 lbs. powdered sugar, 6 egg whites, 1
tsp. cream of tartar - mix together with an electric mixer). Set
out bowls of small candies like skittles, dots, gumdrops, etc. to
decorate the houses. This activity is better when done
at the beginning of the party so the houses will have time to dry a
little before they are taken home.
Candy Cane Party Decorations
Decorate the party area with alternating white and red crepe paper streamers. Hang them straight and cover the party area walls.
Tip: to make the top or the streamers look finished tape one long streamer across the top to hide the ends of the other streamers.
White and Red balloons
Large and small candy canes
Party or dessert tables - white with red plates, cups, napkins (or reversed with a red table cloth and white napkins, plates, cups) is a simple idea and is great for the background of a candy cane centerpiece.
Mix up the patterns and use a red and white polka dot or red and white gingham tablecloth.
Candy Cane Party Food Ideas
Make pizza's in the shape of a large candy cane - alternate pepperoni and cheese in stripes to look like a candy cane.
