Some fun facts about birthdays! 


1.  There are at least 15,000,000 people celebrating birthdays today.

 

 2.  31,536,000 seconds pass between birthdays.

3.  August holds the highest amount of birthday's compaired to any other month at 9%.  July and September follow August with the most birthday's per month.

4.  The month with the least birthdays is February.

5.  More people are born on Tuesday than any other day. 

6.  The day of the week with the least birthdays is Sunday.

7.  Almost 2 billion dollars is spent in the United States every year on birthday cards.

8.  The average person receives 7 birthday cards (according to Greeting Card industry statistics) 

9.  "Happy Birthday To You" is the most popular song in the English language (followed by Auld Lang Syne and For He's a Jolly Good Fellow).

10. Mildred and Patty Hill wrote the tune to that birthday song in 1893 and it was originally called "Good Morning to All".

11. The Happy Birthday song has a copyright and makes $2,000,000 a year from fees.  It can't be sung on TV without paying the copyright holder. 

12. There's something called "the birthday paradox" which claims that if there's at least 23 people in a room that there's a 50/50 chance at least two people will share the same birthday. But if you increase the people in the room to 60 or more (that's crowded!), then there's a 99% chance that two people or more will have the same birthday. May 22nd is the date with the fewest birthday's other than February 29th .  So if you have a May 22nd birthday you are very rare!

 

13. A long time ago only Kings could have a birthday celebration. No one else was considered to be important or worthy of having a celebration.
